Founders
The Mission of Traditional Doula and Midwifery Arts (TCMA) is to provide an exceptional education and support to aspiring birth professionals as well as previously certified Doulas. TDMA is dedicated to ensuring that anyone  who wants and needs doula services during prenatal, birth and postpartum will have access to them, whether choosing  to birth at home, hospital or a birthing center and regardless of ones  socio economic background. 
​While we strive to bring excellence to all doulas we recognize the disparities that birthing persons of color face. In light of these facts, we do offer scholarships and barter options to doulas of color if needed. We also recognize the facts that  birthing persons who identify as LGBTQ and their families do not always receive the same respectful care as  cis gendered birthing women  do and we are committed in helping to  make that change.  Please inquire within for information on scholarship or barter. We have a diverse staff of instructors ready and willing to meet your needs.
         We believe:
  • Doula support begins in the prenatal period and can continue months in the postpartum period.
  • Everyone who wants a doula should have access to doula services.
  • Everyone should give birth where one feels comfortable (hospital, home or birth center) and in the position that one feels most comfortable in.
  • Everyone has the innate knowledge of how to give birth.
  • One's empowerment comes from within - it is not given to by anyone else. 
  • Each birth is unique and unpredictable. A doula should be prepared to meet each birth and birthing mother where one is at.
  • A birthing persons cultural beliefs and preferences regarding birth should be acknowledged and respected.
