With certification from the North American Registry of Midwives and a state license in Arizona, Mary is deeply committed to providing individualized, holistic care to women and birth-givers in their childbirth journey. Inspired by her own home birth experience in 2003, Mary became a fervent advocate, attending her first birth in a supportive role in 2006. She certified as a Birth Doula shortly thereafter. By providing factual information and creative problem solving, she equips parents for a confident birthing and parenting journey. Dawn started Compassionate Care Doula Services to provide ethical, superior, compassionate services. Originally trained by DONA, she quickly realized that she needed to reach further in order to provide better education and a more supportive organization. Through Traditional Childbirth Arts. (formally TDMA) she studied with fabulous teachers, including Mary Betsellie and T’Karima Ticitl. Inspired to share her experience and knowledge, she naturally transitioned into her role as a Traditional Childbirth Arts Instructor.

She runs the family circus consisting of 1 dog, 5 cats, 2 Guinea pigs, and a house chicken. She’s been serving the Long Island birth community for 8 years as a doula, placenta specialist, and childbirth educator.
